☕ Chisme Dominguero: Success, Solidarity, and Staying Sharp
Familia, I’m moving a bit slow today, but the work doesn’t stop. Even with low energy, the wins we had this week are fueling the fire. Here is your quick, essential update on what’s happening at La Línea and in our SELA streets.
✨ Toy Drive Success: Pa'Delante!
Our closing ceremony for the Pa'Delante toy drive exhibit was a massive success. Because of your support and the art sold off these walls, we’ve secured a future for our community’s kids during a time that feels increasingly uncertain.
The Impact: Every dollar from this exhibit is going directly into putting toys and essentials into the hands of SELA families.
Thank You: To the artists and the neighbors who showed up—you proved that even when things get heavy, we take care of our own.
🚨 Community Defense: Whistles & Resistance
The shop has been buzzing with calls from all over the country. Our ICE Reporting Whistles are officially on the map—we are currently ranking in the top 10 for Google searches for "ICE reporting whistles."
Why it Matters: In places like Minneapolis and right here in SELA, whistles have become a primary tool for "A Fistful of Loud" resistance. They turn a silent abduction into a highly visible community event.
Ranking High: People are looking for ways to protect their neighbors, and they are finding us. We are proud to be a hub for this essential tool.
🔥 New Gear: Stickers with a Message
We just dropped two new stickers in the shop to help you wear the resistance:
"The fat orange monster does a war" — A sharp take on the current administration's "Operation Metro Surge" and the militarized tactics we're seeing.
"Ice no tiene pito" — A play on words for those who know; because while they have guns, we have the whistles and the community power. (COMING SOON)
⚠️ SELA Alert: Bracing for Impact
There has been a heavy surge of ICE activity across Southeast LA this week. We are seeing more unmarked vehicles and plainclothes agents than usual.
The Vibe: The community is bracing for more raids as the federal government ramps up its "largest operation to date."
The Plan: Keep your whistles ready. If you see something, make noise. Document from a safe distance and alert your neighbors. We are in this together.
