🛡️ SELA Defense: Fight Back Against Federal Misconduct
The "chilling effect" of ICE raids is real, and it’s hurting our community deeply. LA Unified has seen thousands of immigrant students flee its schools, demonstrating the fear caused by these ongoing actions.
California is fighting back. The state has launched a new online portal to report federal agent misconduct. The reports collected by the California Department of Justice will create a record of unlawful contact and inform legal action to defend Californians’ rights. This is essential knowledge for anyone operating in SELA.

1. La Línea 2nd Annual Toy Drive: Art, Performance, & Activism
Join us Sunday, December 14th (11 AM–4 PM) right here at La Línea (4471 Tweedy Blvd) for our biggest event of the year! We’re working with Para Los Niños to support families affected by ICE raids.
Admission: 1 unwrapped toy 🧸.
The Vibe: Art, Vendors, Performances by @folclorico_pipiles_dance_, and FREE haircuts.
Support: Amazing Food vendors will be vending alongside dozens of incredible SELA artists and makers.

2. Holiday Mercadito: Support Local Makers
Also on Sunday, December 14th (12–4 PM), our friends at @selabicyclecenter and @artspacehp are hosting a Holiday Mercadito at SELA Bicycle Center. This is a great opportunity to find unique holiday gifts like jewelry, ceramics, candles, and art. Go support our local economy!
3. Winter Dinner: Brown Soul Brewing Co.
Need a special night out? @brownsoulbrewery is hosting their inaugural, collaborative 6-course meal with beer pairing on Tuesday, December 30th (6–9 PM). Tickets are $85 and seating is limited to 60 people. SALUD!
🐶 Community Care: The Pet Pantry
Don't forget the four-legged members of our familia. Our friends at @lapawnaderia have opened a Pet Pantry in Downey!
Service: No questions asked, 1 bag of food per household (dogs and cats).

Donate: They are accepting gently used items like blankets, clothes, collars, leashes, bowls, and unopened food.
